What a year! We are in the home stretch and we here at Layne Lauritzen, CPA, PC, hope you and yours have been able to weather this storm of a lifetime. The recent pandemic has really put into perspective how much of our daily lives are out of our hands. The challenge for us in going completely and indefinitely remote has been in changing how our office processes will look from now on. These changes will affect all of our clients.

Thrown into the fire, so to speak, and having to navigate our way through the technological learning curves of remote work, along with new rules, deadlines, and regulations from this year, uncertainty, processes without hard files, managing our home lives and a new way of running the firm while also being available to our clientele and even losing a staff member, we managed to make it through another deadline. We appreciate those of you who chose to stick with us, many of you were unable to use us for your taxes. Performers, artists, musicians, and other creatives having gigs cancelled all year, the funds to pay for professional tax preparation just aren’t there. We hope to see you again in the future. We are still here and still going.

Out of the fire, though, comes even more creativity. It’s been a joy to watch so many of our clients’ performing via live stream on Instagram, Facebook, and other websites. Like many of you, we are managing our new normal here at our virtual firm. We ask that you all follow us here on our website, for updates concerning tax deadlines, organizers, and the client portal. The client portal is very important as we will use that for all future file sharing. Any physical documents submitted to us at our new address, will be charged anywhere from $35 – $75 administrative fee for the time it takes to organize, scan, and upload to our virtual file cabinet on this end. Postage to return it to you will also be charged. Phone and Zoom consultations and meetings are also available.

We will be sending out our 2020 Tax Organizers via e-mail to active clients by the end of this year. Please keep a look out in your SPAM folder if you have Yahoo! or GMAIL email addresses.
